According to Utah’s Official Catholic Newspaper, veteran Adventist educator Michael Martling will receive the Sacraments of Confirmation at Saints Peter and Paul Parish on March 26, 2016. Martling said he has attended conversion class there since last September.

Although he still attends the Seventh-day Adventist Church, he stated he felt it was “damaging his Christian experience,” and decided he could no longer teach in Adventist schools.

His Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults instructor Deacon Espinosa said “The more he studied Catholicism, the more he found answers to his questions and an emptiness in his Seventh-day Adventist faith.”

In a facebook post Martling said

It seems that both my SDA pastor and my RC deacon agree on one thing: I do not necessarily need to drop my membership in the SDA denomination to become a Roman Catholic. Thus, come Easter, I will be in the unique and extremely rare circumstance of being a member of the Seventh-day Adventist AND Roman Catholic Churches.

Martling attended Southern Adventist University and has taught in 5 Seventh-day Adventist Academies over a 23-year period. He is still listed as a faculty member teaching Social Studies, Art and Bible at Wisconsin Academy.

According to his biography he has taught at Beehive, Salt Lake, Georgia Cumberland, and Upper Columbia Academies.
